Root Canal Treatment

Root canal therapy is a method of treating the internal structures of a tooth. It is frequently performed due to infection, deep cavity, cracked tooth, or trauma.

The treatment involves removing the pulp (the nerves and blood vessels) of the tooth, cleaning and reshaping the area. The pulp is not essential to a tooth’s health and function once the tooth has fully emerged from the gums. If the treatment is not performed, infection builds up at the root tip and can spread to the surrounding bone causing swelling and discomfort.

Most often, Root Canal Treatment can be accomplished with complete comfort. Dr. Balice uses the most successful medications and latest techniques to maximize your level of comfort. A back tooth that receives root canal therapy will frequently require a crown to strengthen it. A temporary restoration will be placed until the tooth can be properly restored.

Root canal therapy has a very high rate of success. Treatment will likely allow you to keep the tooth for a lifetime.
