Sedation

Sedation dentistry will soon be available at La Grange Dental Associates. This method of relaxation can be used when a patient suffers from dental anxiety or has multiple dental needs that would typically require more than one appointment. The patient can choose between Inhalation Nitrous Oxide Sedation and Oral Sedation to ensure comfort, ease anxiety, or reduce the number of appointments needed to achieve a healthy smile.

In one form of conscious inhalation sedation, Dr. Balice administers nitrous oxide gas (also known as laughing gas) is used to induce a state of relaxation. A local anesthetic will be administered in combination with nitrous oxide sedation to create a pain free experience.

Oral sedation dentistry is now the most common technique used in the United States and Canada to quell patient fears. The technique is easy and safe. The medications create such a comfortable experience that most patients have no memory of the visit; it is as if they slept through the treatment.

In reality, oral sedation dentistry maintains a level of consciousness in the patient for safety and cooperation. Oral sedative medications are given to a patient by Dr. Balice the night before a dentistry procedure and/or before the dental appointment.

Sedation dentistry is a modern solution to phobias and time constraints. It allows people to receive necessary routine and restorative dental care without which could potentially compromise the health and functionality of their mouth and smile.
